WHALE WRECKS A TRAWLER.

REVENGED UPON ITS ASSAILANTS.

The trawler Salvia reached Grimsby on Monday, August 26, when Mr Rowson, her skipper, reported having picked up the crew of the Norwegian steam trawler Diamond, which was discovered in a crippled condition of! Faroe. While whalehunting near Mayness, the Diamond encountered a huge whale, which the crew harpooned. Thereupon the animal smote the steamer such a terrific blow that her plates were stove in. The engine-room filled with wateT, and she almost foundered. The Salvia arrived in time to save the nine hands and tow the almost totally submerged craft into Nestmann's Haven.
