We have received a copy of the first of next year's calendars from the local agent of the South British Insurance Company (ilr JO. P. Webster). Mr. .1. G Smith, Registrar, supplies the following particulars of the vital statistics of New Plymouth for the month of October:—Births 37, marriage 10, deaths J. In answer to the Taranaki County Council's resolution urging the Government to proceed with the Model Bylaws Bill this session, Hon. James McGowan, Minister for Public Works, has written to Mr W. .Symes, M.H.R., that the Government is fully alive to the importance of this measure, but owing to the very large amount of legislation to be dealt with, it is somewhat doubtful if the Bill can be proceeded with this year.
