DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. 'Messrs E. Griffiths and Co., dairy produce exporters, New Plymouth, are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated September 23 1907: '

Butter.—The trade continues good for all fresh-made fine butter, and this description is celaring as soon as it lands at prices ranging from 2a to Is higher than last week's quotations. Prospects for fine butter up to the end of the year are excellent, and we look for steadily improving rates. Danish: Copenhagen has advanced two kroners {2s 4d) with a corresponding rise on this side.

Irish: The quantity is commencing to shrink, and prices of best creameries have improved during the week. Supply here is also commencing to diminish and higher rates are demanded for all best grades. There has been an excellent production of French butter during the last two months, and it has met with a ready sale on our markets.

Siberian; The quantity that arrived this week in London is about 8000 cask 3. General quality is very poor indeed, so that the proportion that can be classed as finest is disappointingly small. Australian: There is very little to report, as the quantity arriving is very small. A few New South Wales best butters came to hand, and made 110s, as they opened particularly fine, but there is also a considerable proportion selling at 100s to 102s. Some best Victorian are due to arrive in a day or two. Secondary butters in cold store do not meet with that improvement that was hoped, as the demand is running more on fine grades. New Zealand: About 1200 boxes have arrived this week per Tongariro, prices ranging from 106s to 110s. Quality of some of the factories is excellent. There are still a number of factories in cold store, but they are generally of secondary quality,, and have developed more or less fishiness in flavor.

Cheese. —Demand generally is quiet, and prices a shade easier on the week. It is reported that the fall-made in Canada will not be any heavier than Jast year, if as heavy, and it is therefore apparent that the mortgage of the early part of the season will not be made up. Prospects for New Zealand cheese are excellent.
