THE "RAGGING" INQUIRY.
Per Press Association.
Christchurch, Last Night. At the "ragging" inquiry to-day, Harry H. Jackson, locomotive engineer for the Hurunui-Bluff section, stated that complaints had been received from the cleaning-sheds from time to time, r but nothing more serious than horsepay and the _ throwing of slurry was alleged. No indecency had been com- ■ plained of. He thought that even if tie ' supervision were trebled it would be im- > possible to prevent a certain amount of horse-play taking place. If there were ■' any serious abuses in the shed he felt sure there were at least half-a-doieu ■ lads who would come forward and sajr < so. The officers of the Department wero doing their best to put down any sky* larking and horse-play. The-inquiry concluded this evening, and the Commissioner will report'to tie Department.
