Mr. Koderick Mackenzie, late of Blaekinount and Bjrchwood stations, has purchased Bushy Park estate, ihc property of the late Sir John Alcivcnzic, on which a cairn commemorauug that statesman has been erected. Bushey Parks contains 220U acres of first-class land. It was under otter to the Government at a price stated to be in ,tlle vicinity of £ls an acre. Dunedin, Thursday. Bushey Park, which has been purchased by Mr. Koderick MeKenzie, does not include the hill on which the cairn to the memory of the late Sir John Mckenzie is erected. This adjoins Lady McKenzie's property at Heathiield, and is on the opposite side of the railway line to Bushey Park.
Invercargill, Last Night. The Magistrate gave judgment to-day in the ease in which Franciso Sambolino sued W. S. Waterston for £23 10s iOd for wages, etc., in connection with the [ stay of the barque Stefauo Kazetto at the Bluff. Judgment went for plaintiff with £23, Ss 4d, with £4 4s costs. Stay of execution was refused. Uisborne, Thursday. Witnesses for the claimant in the Te Arai case put the value of the estate at £135,000 to £137,000. Mr Findlay, for -the Crown, said he would bring evidence to show that a fair value was £9 an acre. The land tax valuation in 1006 was £98,308.
Gisborne, Last Night. In the Compensation Court, the hearing of the Hon. Randal Johnston's claim for compensation for the taking of Te Ar. : I'-taie by the Government was finished, and decision was reserved. The case of the lessee, John Clark, was then taken. Clark claims £IO,OOO for the loss of his lease, and £2OOO special loss for lraving to sell his cattle at an inopportune time.
Napier, Thursday. The Magistrate gave judgment to-day in a case which aroused considerable local interest. T. Moore, a well-known medical ma ( n, was charged on the information of Mrs Rosio Wan-en with assault. Her evidence was that she called at Dr Moore's, and he roundly abused her and called her a vile, wicked woman, threw her across the room and kicked her. The defendant denied in toto, He snjd lie touched her with his hand, and she "flopped on the floor." The S.M. found the charge unproved. He did not say complainant swore falsely, but she appeared to bo of a strange and emotional temperament and might have persuaded herself the story was true. '
Wellington, Thursday. The Marine Department has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the loss of the barque Constance Craig. The .inquiry will be held- at Gishorne next Saturday. Dnnedin, Thursday. The Anglican Synod passed a resolution to-day, "That this Synod protests most' strenuously against the passing of the Separate Endowments School Bill. the principle of which is the confiscation of all religious educational endowments not only of the Anglican but of all other denominations, and it urges all members of the Church to oppose the Bill and to principle in every possible man-
