TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the Council, which met at 2.30 p.m.. tlic Fire Brigades Bill was read a third time and passed. The Attorney-General moved the second reading of the LAND LAWS AMENDMENT BILL. The debate was proceeding when the Council adjourned at 5 p.m. till 8 o'clock. The Council resumed at 8 p.m. The debate on the second reading af the Land Bill was continued. The Council rose at 0.30. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES In the House, the Hon. J. Carroll gave notice to introduce the MAORI LAND SETTLEMENT BILL. One week's leave of absence waß granted Mr. Lethbrid'ge on account of] J ill-health. : ; .jiii]
