He has a beautiful head, neck, and crest, well-sprung ribs, and strong, short-coupled back. Altogether, he is a most compactly built, well-put-together specimen of a Clydesdale horse. WHAT'S WANTED as a, yearling gained first prize at the Egmont A. and P. Society's Show, and first prize as a two-year-old at the Taranaki Metropolitan Show. His sire, Armadale, was got by that celebrated breeding and show-ring sire Glengyle, out of the fine breeding mare Nancy, who was shown until 13 years of age, and was never beaten in her class. She won nine first and four champion prizes. Duchess of Alexander's gr. dam, Jenny, was one* of the best draught mares ever bred or imported to the colony, being dam of the New Zealand and Australian champion mare, Flower of Balmoral. His dam, Duchess of Alexandra, was a most successful prize-winner, having gained the following prizes, viz.: First and champion at Tapanui ('South Island) as a two-year-old, First prize at Egmont A. and P.
