Altogether, he is a most compactly built, well-put-together specimen of a Clydesdale horse. WHAT'S WANTED as a yearling giimed jjrst prize at the Egmont A. and i. Society's Show, and iirst prize as i two-year-old at the Taranaki Metropolitan Show. His sire, Armadale, was got by that celebrated breeding and show-rmg sire Glengylc, out of the fine breeding mare Nancy, who was shown until ia years of age, and was never beaten 111 her class. She won nine first and four champion prizes. TO Stand tliis Season at his Owner's Farm, on the Mangawliero road, Riverlea, the Imported llaekney Stallion VICTORY. By Vanity Fair (6224, E.H.5.8.), out of Vanity (11539, E.H.5.8.). VICTORY ia a brown horse, with a small white star and black points, foaled in 1003, standing 15.2 and showing great quality and substance. His cannon-bone measures S'/oin. He is a very stylish mover and possessed of a beautiful temper. His sire, Vanity Fair, represents the third generation of a brilliant line of sires, bred by Mr. Burdett Coutts, wherein the notorious high-stepping Norfolk blood of old Confidence has been hardened and Improved in size, bone, and quality by successive crosses of Triflit's Fireaway, the great Yorkshire sire. His dam, Vanity, is by Vigorous (1215 E.H.5.8.) out of Lonely (048 E.H.5.8.). Vigorous is also the grandsire of that celebrated hackney, Hedon Squire (14306), the property of Sir I Walter Gilbey, Bart.
