ANNUAL MEETING. The third, annual meeting of the Taranaki Athletic and Caledonian Assoc.ation was helil on Wednesday evening in Hie SiraUoril Borough Conned (Jiiauiuers. I'iL'bL'iit: Messrs J. Jennius (North Tarauaki Caledonian Society), V. Giraud (Auroa So--1 ciety), J. Garcia (ttahotu and Ogunake), A. Stewart and J. H. Thompson (Stratford Caledonian society). The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, stated that it was very satisfactory to note that the number of affiliated societies had increased by six, and lie truatcd that the one or two remaining would affiliate 'this year. He drew attention to the amount of fees paid to the N.Z. Athletic Union for affiliations, and considered that the Is 6d handed over to the Union out of registrations was too much He was of the opinion that the New Zealand Athletic Union should claim no part of the 2s (id registration fee. Mr A. Stewart seconded the adoption of the report, which was carried. Mr Hardy moved that it be a notice of motion from the laranaki Association to the annual meeting of the Union that the amount paid from a centre to the Union on account of affiliation fees be deleted from the rules.—Carried. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr W. T. Jennings, president, Mr N. King; vice-president, Hon. W. 0. Carncross, M.L.C.; council, Messrs J. Clarke, J. C. Jennins, A. Stewart, A. Hansen, E. ti. liarr, J. Garcia, W. H. Taylor (Inglewood); secretary, Mr J. H. Thompson; auditor, Mr h. Reira (Mr F. E. Hardy being unable to take office again). Messrs Clarke and Hansen were appointed as delegates to the annual meeting of the Union. A letter was received from the New Zealand AtUetie Union informing the Association that the following resolution was passed at the late conference held in Chvistcliurch: —"That the Eltham Axemen's Association be asked to organise as a colonial body, in which oii.se it will be recognised by the Union.\ Failing definite action in that direction, the Union will be compelled to endeavor to assume control in the interests of its affiliated societies of sawing and chopping events." It was decided, on the motion of Mr Jennins, seconded by Mr Stewart, that the delegates to the annual meeting of tho Union be instructed to oppose any interference jyith tho Eltharn Assocla tion. ill It was decided that the delegates to the next annual meeting of the Union be instructed to ask why the reciprocal agreement drawn up by .the New Zealand Axemen's Association was not submitted to the last meeting of the Union, as promised by the secretary of that body. A meeting o£ the council followed, when Mr J. Clark was re-appointed chairman.

A report was received from the Council of the League of New Zealand with reference to the matter of taking over the control of road racing throughout New Zealand, recommending that tlio centres be donated £lO on condition that they run a road race, and add an additional prize to the yalue of at least £ls. i :, " r s It was decided that the Association cannot see is way to subsidise the T£lo voted, but if tho money were voted unconditionally, it .would be suitably allotted.
