NOVEL LAW POINT.
Per Press Association. Wellington, Thursday. In connection with the novel point of law raised in the Magistrate's Court by Mr Wilford, the Magistrate (Mr Riddell) in giving judgment said counsel had cited no authority to support his contention that, as the contract was made in South Africa the law of that country should be applied in deciding the dispute. The rule as to the enforcement in one country of a contract validly made in another was that the law of the country in which the action was brought applied Judgment was given for plaintiff, with costs. Mr Wilford gave notice of appeal.
