TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A mooting uf the Taranaki Agricultural Society's committee was held oil Tuesday, Mr W. Arnbury presiding. Tho Garrison Band's tender for music on the second day of the show was accepted; the tender of Mr J, \V. Thompson for luncheon and afternoon tea 011 the show ground, and the annual dinner to be held on tho lirst night of the show in the Old Masonic Hall and "the tender of Mr Whittle (Kcd House Hotel) for the publican's booth were also accepted. Several judges were finally selected. New members were elected: —Messrs W. Birdling, W. Young (Waitara), K. C. Webster, W. H. Perham, T. 0. Jvelsey, JO. Nops, (Xcw X'lvmoutli), B. Clements (I-lawera), W. H. Jupp, G. A. Jupp, 11, D. .Toll (Uruti), N. A. Brown (Ngaire), A. H. Braithwaite (Uronui) and J. Wallace (Motu). Messrs W .6. Malone, 'A. E. Sykes, and K. C. Webster were elected to the committee.
A class was inserted for harness ponies, twelve hands or tinder, this having been inadvertently omitted by the schedule committee.
The matter of erecting a judging rin» was left to the Ground Committee It was decided to hold an miction sale of stock on the ground on tho second day of the show at 10 a.m. Already there have, been numerous enquiries from outside as to this matter. The following stewards were elected: —Judges' stewards, Messrs N. King nnd W. G. Malone; ring, Messrs Watson, 01 iff «ni(l Eliott; light horses, Messrs S Smith, S. Teed, H. Linn, C. V. Stead, and A. McMaster; draught, Messrs w' Stanley and F. Pagan; Shorthorn and fat. cattle, Messrs H. Okey, G. Colson, and A. Mills; Ayrshire and (Jersey, Messrs C. TToskin. .T. fonnett. .T. |'r Street, and J. C. Montofiore; IToistcin and grade for dairying, Messrs A. 11. Ilaleombc, W. AinJmry, N. Hill, and if! T. Hall; sheep, Messrs J. Crockett and K Webster; pigs. Mr .T. TT. Hill; dogs, Ml- A. U. Sykes; dairy produce, Messrs Henry King, A. Morton, and O. V. Tate; number and measuring, Mr F. Orbell; paddockm?, Messrs o! W Sole' D. Colson, A. Cliff. H. Linn, F. Pagan! C. V. Stead, .T. C. M«ntefiore. and 8. Smith. For the Amateur judging competitions the following stewards were appointed:—Horses, Mr S. Smith' slioep, Mr J. Crockett; cattle, Mr II „ 8 The Ground Committeo will meet early in November to get the ground into condition for the show. The Railway Department, has advised tho Society that bona fide exhibitors of stock will lie allowed to travel at the excursion rates provided they are travelling earlier than tlio excursion time solely for the purpose of taking charge of exhibits.
Tito tram arrangements have been completed. These will be similar to Inst year's, the committee considering no alteration riecessarv. as last year's arrangements worked very well for both exhibitors of stock and the public.
