TARANAKI EDUCATION BOARD.

The Education Board met lust night. The members present were: Messrs •las. Waik' (chairman), A. Adlam, Li. Tiscli, J. D. Morison, W. Moukhouse, H. Trimble, \V. L. Kennedy, 11. Faull, and A. Morton. ARCHITECT'S REPORT. The architect, Mr James Sanderson, reported that repairs to the old \Yaipuku residence (occupied by the Tariki liead teacher), would cost X(i!) to make it "reasonably, habitable." He thought that before' the expenditure was incurred, the matter should have further consideration. Work had commenced ou the additions to the Toko residence. The erection of the plumbing loom at New Plymouth, which had been delayed on account of the weather, was now being pushed ahea'd. Painting was required at ten schools.— Adopted. MANUAL RIiPOUT. Mr Ballantyne, director, submitted his report 011 manual work. Examinations were proposed to be held at the New Plymouth Technical School at the conclusion of the present term. The Health Department proposed holding annual examinations in practical and theoretical plumbing. This should prove an incentive to students attending the classes, more especially as the certificates would be recognised in all parts of the Dominion. Mr liallantync regretted the resignation of Mr Dcwson, instructor in wood-iaiving. He liad proved himself a capable instructor and the class had been one of the most popular in the school. The director had visited Inglewood to confer with the committees with reference to the erection of a building at that centre for manual classes. The Board would be asked to approach the Department for a grant towards the erection of the build ng according to the plan accepted by the Inglewood people, the cost to be about £3oo—Adopted. | CHAIRMAN'S REPORT.

The chairman reported that the following appointments had been made:— To Kiri, Mr Buchler, sole charge; Okato, Mr IJ. I'. Evans, headmaster; Central, Air Davidson, second assistant; Makalm, Mrs Cameron, Bole charge; Douglas. Miss Fcnnetli, sole charge. The following temporary appointments had been made:—Marco, Mr Bailey, sole charge; Puniwhakiui, Mrs McMillan, sole charge; Douglas, Miss Laird, sole charge; Central, Mr Butcher, assistant master; Okato, Miss J'allantyne, head mistress; Te Kiri, Miss Eigliv, sole teacher.
