MILK FEVER IN DAIRY COWS. Copy of letter from Wanganui Chronicle, 22nd December, 1904:—"Sir,—As It may prove useful to other dairy farmera I send you the following:—On the 10th tost, one of my, beet cows, calved, hen third calf. On tho morning of the 15th she gave me a three-gallon" bucket of milk, and looked tip-top. At 3 o'clocic that evening, ;cofrning home from the . paddock I noticed ser body tckel up and her hindquarters stiff. I tried to milk her, but the milk was gone. As the above were indications of milk fever, I gave her a dose of Sykes's Drench, and remembering that oxygen pumped into the udder was a remedy, I got a (bicycle pump and with the part that fits in the rubber tyre of the bike added, I pump- ; ej the four quarters of the udder full ■ °f air. We had to support her in the i bail while doing this. When we left 1 her out she staggered a few yards and fell down. About twenty minutes afterwards, however, to my surprise Bhe was on her feet again, and much better. J By 9 o'clock that night she was resting 1 comfortably. Next morning at 4.30 o'clock she was up and feeding. That 1 evening I got 151bs of milk from her. and she is now back to her usual flow of milk, and as well ns she ever was. I have now 'had eighteen years' dairy farming, and have seen cows die, and cows recover in time, but in this instance the quick recovery was simply marvellous.—l' am, etc., J. W. McLarin, Waverley, December 18, 1004." Use only Sykes's Drench, because it lis the best. Price Is 6d packet, or 16s by the dozen. Better hay it W «■». 'dozen, Writs for booklet,
