Ihe Jato Mr Andrew Cole was one of the charter members of the Unity Tent ot ltechabites, and was trustee for upwards of twenty years. The following have been nominated tor the position „f judge at the forthcoming band contest at New' Plymouth: Lieutenant llentley, New South Wales; Mr. W. S. King, Cliristclmrch; Mr. Strutton, Dunedni; Lieutenant Herd. Wellington; Mr. T. Mollor, Brisbane: and Mr. E Jlulse, Auckland.
'A (pleasant function took plafee an' the editor's room at tho Evening post on Friday afternoon, the Dominion reports, when Mr Joseph Parker, chief sub-editor, who is to he married to-day to Miss Vera Maedonald, daughter of the Hon. T. K. Maedonald, M.L.C., was presented with a handsome* fruit service and a salad bowl, of chaste design, in honor of (he occasion. In matin the presentation, the editor, Mr Gresley Lukiii, on behalf of the staff, wished the recipient and his future wife every happiness and prosperity,
