WHAT'S WANTED as a yearling gained first prize at the Egmont A. and 1. Society's Show, and first prize m a two-year-old at the T.uanahi Metro polilan Show. His sire, Armadale, wim got by that celebrated Imvrfiii.r , breeding mare Nancy, who waa shown until ]3 years of age, and was never lieatcn m her class. She won nine Unit and lour champion prizes. Duchess of Alexander's gr. dam, Jenny was one of the best draught mares evor bred, or imported to the colony, being dam of the New Zealand and Australian champion marc, Flower of Balmoral. TO Stand this Season at Ms Owner's Farm, on the Mangawhero road Riverloa, the Imported Hackney Stallioi VICTORY. By Vanity Fair (0224, E.H.5.8.), ouf of Vanity (11530, E.H.5.8.). VICTORY is a brown horse, with small white star and black points, foale in 1003, standing 15.2 and showing grea quality and substance. His cannon-bon measures S'/ 2 in. He is a very stylisl mover and possessed of a beautiful tern per. His sire, Vanity Fair, represent the third generation of a brilliant lin of sires, bred by Mr. Burdett Coutts wherein the notorious high-stepping Nor folk blood of old Confidence has beei hardened and improved in size, bone and quality by successive crosses o Triffit's Fireaway, the great Yorkshin sire. His dam, Vanity, is by Vigorou (1215 E.H.5.8.) out of Lonely (64! E.H.5.8.). Vigorous is also the grand sire of that celebrated hackney, Hedoi Squire (14306), the property of Si Walter Gilbey, Bart.
