Oamaru, and is by the imi>orted sire "Sandy Erskine," who is the sire of the well-known champion marc, "Lady Erskine"—owned by A. Alexander, Esq., Normanby, Taranaki—the dam of the champion two-year-old colt, Marcellus, recently purchased by W. Taylor, Esq., Te Awamutu, at the record price of 750 guineas. Lord Erskine's Dam, Pearl 11., is by the famous sire, Crown Prince, grand dam Sapphire, dam of Accountant, are has only been beaten by her stable .companion's great grand dam, Pearl, a mare specially selected by the late J. B. Blair, and imported on account of the late Hon. Matthew Holmes. From the foregoing it will be seen that Lord Erskine is descended from the very best blood of good breeding strains, and he is certain to prove a getter of the best type of Clydesdales. His show ring successes prove him to be a horse of individual high-class merit.
