PIG NOTES.

Stuff and starve are the two extremes in feeding. Avoid both. The jigs deserve, some feed licsides dMi water.

Change the feeding ground oceasionly. It will be better for the pigs and for the pasture. Always breed from a pure-bred boar, of good constitutional vigor, which should be a rapid grower and a good feeder. Keep him separate from the sows and give him plenty of yard room for exercise.

A really good pig cannot be produced from scrub stock. It is absolutely necessary to cho->NC the breed for the purpose, thai is. sour.' breeds are lictter for bacon and hams when lean meat is preferred, and others for lard or fat pork. Jlave an ideal animal and work for it. Ilreed from mature_and well-bred sows. Don't -acrilicc individuality to pedigree. Greed prolific sows only. Avoid crossbreeding. Sanders Spencer, the well-known breeder of improved Yorkshire pigs, said recently: "I have used many niue-months-old boars and boars nine years old, and, So far as I was able to tell, the pigs bv each of the boars were not in the least affected by the age of the parents.
