The following cable has been received from the High Commissioner, dated London, l!)(h October:— The mutton market is weak, although there is better demand, induced by lower prices. Canterbury 3%d, North Island 3 '/ s d. There is good demand for all lamb, with no change in prices. The beef market is dull, with large supplies of American chilled beef. Hindquarters ;sy s d, forcquarters 2%. The butter market is strong, all stocks advancing, and there is a-large demand for belter grades. It is reported that the first shipment of New Zealand new season's make has |„,,. u sold, to arrire, at 120s. Danish butter on spot 1245, Siberian HIS*. Australian 117s. There is a good demand for cheese. Prices are unchanged since last week. The hemn market is weaker, and prices -lighily lower, besides being in n. v.ith-r unsettled condition. Hood to fair grade on spot C!il, fair grade £2S 10s, fair current Manila <::!(). The latter is] in blige supply. The total imports ol' butter into the I'niteil Kingdom fur the week ending the 12th instant amounted to 02,000 cut, as compared with 73.0111)cwt for the corresponding week ol' DIM!.

Uriilitlis and Co. are in receipt of ihe following market report from their London principals, Messrs -Mills and Sparrow, dalcd September litli, PJO7: Butter.—We have again had a period of wet days, considerable rain having fallen, and the pastures generally, not only in thus country and Ireland, but throughout Europe, are in good condition. ■ The make of butter has been well maintained, and the shortage which was expected to become manifested by now, has not yet come about, and supplies are up to the requirements, consequently prices on all descriptions OH best butter are unchanged throughout the week.
Danish: No change has been made. There has been a better demand, and an occasional Is more is made, Irish: The quantity ottering continues large, but the demand is excellent and prices showed a considerable improvement during the week. Irish butter is coming very good in quality. Trench: The supply keeps up, and trade on this dcscripiion is good, as it is showing good value. Siberian: Arrivals this week are about l(.i,lll)U casks.
