LATKR PARTICULARS. Auckland, Later. A terrible boating fatality occurred at AVhangapc (about ten miles north of Jlokiaii"a) on Sunday evening, involving the loss of seven lives. A party of twelve, who had been out fishing in Messrs. Wallace Bros.' launch,' were capsized on the bar, and only five were saved. Search-parties are endeavoring to recover the bodies of the unfortunates. Mr. A\ r . Adamson, whose body j was recovered, was a clerk employed by I the Mitclielsou Timlier Company, and a married man. His wife resides in Auckland. Mr. IX T. Wallace was 30 or 35 years of age. He was appointed tide surveyor for the Customs at AA'hangapc a couple of months ago, and he is also a flaxmillcr.

The whole, of those drowned were well known in the district, and their sad fate has plunged the place into a condition of the deepest grief. The survivors are, much prostrated,

and it is difficult to get anything like a detailed account of the casually.

The party had been out on a fishing excursion, and were returning over the bar when the launch capsized. The weather was not very stormy, but there was a nasty sea breaking on the bar, and it proved too much for the small craft with its numerous party.

The disaster occurred some considerable distance from the shore, and the position of the whole party left struggling in the water became immediately one of the utmost peril. *

The scene that followe'd the capsizing of the launch was heartrending, those who were able to keep themselves nflo-it being in the terrible position of seeing their companions disappear one after

another beneath the surface, until only five of the twelve remained, and these were rescued none too soon, for several of them were very much distressed.
