MOA ROAD BOARD.
The Jloft Koad Board met on Saturday. 'i'Uere were, present: Messrs 11. Trimble (chairman), Capper, Uhamney, llo,by and Lawrence Messrs Corkill and Marsh were granted leave o£ absence.
The Waitara West Road Board .wrote that stops were being taken to raise ;C2OO for work on Davis road—The Hoard will be pleased -to undertake the supervision of the work. A complaint from. Messrs Quinton, Haylock and Co., that they were not paid for stone taken for repairs, was deferred to enable Mr C. Young to report. The Treasury notified that £139 fis 10s subsidy on rates and £SO for material used on the Ngatoro bridge had been remitted t<j the Hoard's credit. A deputation of Bedford road settlers, witli Mr 0. (Sutherland as spokesman, wailed upon the Board and asked that money be spent l'nr more general benefit than, as proposed, in a 2-foot pipe culvert, which would not be big enough to carry the water.
The chairman repartul that Mr Surrey would continue to pay the road levy to compensate for damage done to Bristol read by timber traffic from Irs mill which he had taken over from Mr Kugenl. Murray, DUlricl Read Engineei, wrote that he could not recommend the closing of the Short road as asked fur by Jlr Old. Tenders will bo invited for loan work on the Lincoln road, to he in by the ■December meeting. . Mr Lawrence reported that he had ininspected the Ross road with Mr ilerr.
