MINING.
Per Press Association. Auckland, Thursday. The directors of the Champion mines have decided to erect a ten-stamper battery and proceed with milling as soon as possible. Masterton, Thursday. With regard to the Mauriceville coal resources, Messrs Rummer, Hofleins and Jensen have decided to throw their properties into one mining area with a fronta'ge of about two miles to the railway. Others, at the back, will have the option of joining the coal outcrops at both the northern and southern boundaries. A previous Goverment analysis shows uniformly fair quality coal suitable for household purposes. * The owners propose asking a royalty of one shilling per ton from any company formed to work the deposit.
