Per Press Association. Christcjiurch, Thursday. Local coal merchants are complaining that the Government to allow thorn lo inirchasc State coal within a certain radius of the Government depots. They contend the intervention of the Government lias not reduced tlx; price o( coal tu the consumer, the price of other coals remaining the same as before, and that Government coal could be sold at a lower price, seeing that the Stale escapes a number of charges for royalties, sidings, etc.
