NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

WORKS COMMITTEE'S REPORT. At the Boro jgh Council meeting on Monday the following recommendations of the Works Committee were adopted: , That the action of the Committee in accepting the tender of Honnor and Clark (£lB 17s 6d) for wheels and Shafts, q/tc., for new water cart be confirmed'(other tenders were W. Jenkinson and Co. £2l, G. A. Nisbet £22 is Cd); that the Council be recommended to accept the tender of \V. J. Russell of Is 7d per cubic yard (£79 3s 4d) for supply and delivery of 1000 cubic yards of boulders to the crusher site (Other tenders were T. Parkin £B7 10s, E. F. Sole £ll2 10s); that the engineer be instructed to prepare plans of the levels at the intersection of Vivian street and Cutfield rsad; that provided D. Berry and Co. comply with the bylaws in all other respects they be allowed to dispense wilh brick walls erecting a second floor on the rear portion of their buildings; that the application of the Public Works Department re drain from the gaol to Powdcrham street be referred to the chairman of the Works Committee and the borough engineer, with power to act; that the borough engineer rpeort as to whether Messrs L. D. Nathan and Co. should erect the fence on the east side of their warehouse on their boundary or on the edge, of the present footpath, and that the cliairman of the Works Committee and the liorougli engineer be given power to act and report; that the Committee carry out the following works authorised ]>y the Council—(a) the kerbing and channelling of the north side of Devon 'street from Queen street to Dawson street, nnd (b) the kerbing and channelling of the west side of Queen street from Devon street to King street; that the foreman be authorised to kerb airi channel both sides of Devon street from Barring Terrace to the Te Kennj bridge; that in accordance with the foreman's recommendation be be authorised to 'construct a culvert in Vivian street near Mi Bayly's residence at a cost not exceeding r £,ls.
