I fingers of his. left hand. J A shooting accident, fortunately attended by no serious results, occurred in " the city about midday. Mr. William ivnowles, a who has a shop in Lower Manchester-street, was handling a revolver in his shop when />c ...ed the trigger. The weapon fired a ■i rtridge which had been left in It. The bullet passed through a window and entered the shop next door, striking a young man named Frank Leslio Berry, a mason, ou the temple. Berry was conveyed to the hospital, where it was found that the wound was not particularly dangerous. The hairdresser stated to the police that, he had bought Ms business about three months ago, and was clearing out a cupboard this morning, when he discovered a revolver. He was snapping it round when it suddenly went off. Thames, Last Night. John Houston, employed at Waikakn, bn Piako lands, i» missing. He left Morrinsville the other day for Waikaka, and subsequently his hors*, with saddle and bridle, was found. It is believed Houston has been drowned in the Horo- ' horo creek, which was in flood at tlie ' time. The police are making a search ■■■< for the body. Houston is a stranger to New Zealand,'and comes from Australia. It is believed he was single, ?
