Mr. Joseph West, the newly-elected I borough councillor, took his seat at the Borough Council meeting last night. Mr. lien Tillett was a passenger from U ellington by yesterday's mail train, and went on to Auckland by steamer. Councillor Cattley and Mr. .11. Black, borough electrical engineer, were absent last night from the Borough Council meeting, and were granted leave of absence. Mr Justice Sim (President), Messrs (Slater and Brown (members) and Mr Wilson (Registrar) of the Arbitration Court, arrived from south by the mail train last night Mr. \V. J. Pcnn, editor of our local ' contemporary, met with an unfortunate. I 1 accident yesterday morning.
