OBITUARY.

Per Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. Mr A. Begg, well-known in public allairs, died yesterday, aged 08 years. Deceased came to the colony in 18a'J, and a few years later took up farming. In 1800 he took over the management of a pastoral farm, and in 1870 he established an agency business. Mr Begg took a keen, interest in public affairs, and was Mayor of Koslyn for several years, also holding a seat in that Council for some time. At various times lie also sat on the Harbor Board, Education Board, Charitable Aid Board, Acclimatisation Society, and Licensing Committee. Deceased took a prominent part in church and also no-license allairs. He stood for Parliament 'it 1890 and 1899, but was defeated on both occasions.
