MESSRS WILSON ANO NOLAN'S .MARKET REPORT. Messrs Wilson and Nolan report for the week ending O.tober 18: Poultry—ln good demand and realised aatisfactory prices. We quote: Hens Is lOd to 2s 7d, roosters la 9d to 2s, cockerels Is lOd to 2s 4d, hen and ducklings 6s fid to Os fid. guinea fowls 4s !)d pair, ducks Is 9.1 to 2s 4d. • Fruit—A shipment of Island fruit was cleared during the week; oranges lis, I>ananas 5s fid to 7s Od. Stock—The bad weather has been against sales in this department. The demand for sheep is keen. We quote: 2(1(1, ewes and lambs 245, 170 wethers | lfe nd.
AUCKLAND STOCK MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report as follows: j Horses: Heavy draughts sold at from £27 10s to £36; medium do., £lB as to £29; hacks and light harness horses, £7 15s to £22; spring-eart, £l4. The following racehorses were disposed of: —Brown horse Kruger, 18 guineas; bay horse San Paulo, 18 guineas; chcstn.it horse Cachuca, 140 guineas. On Wednesday we held our first cattle fair of the season at the Papakura yards, when we yarded 1640 head .;f cattle. Grown steers, in fresh condition, sold at from £6 5s to £8; three to four year-old do., £5 5s to £7 7s: two to three-year-old do., £2 15s to £5 10s; yearlings, £1 10s to £2 14s; calves, 18s to £1 9s; empty cows, £1 18s to £3 7s.
Cattle: Dairy cows sold at from £3 10s to £7 15s; calves, 19s to £1 Us; empty cows, £2 2s to £4 8s; steers, £4 10s to £8 2s Gd. The beef pens were well filled, although the quality was not up to the previous week. Oxen sold at 30s per 1001b and cows brought 21s to 24s per 1001b. Steers sold at from £6 to £ls 17s fid; cows, £4 5s to £9. For fat cattle of good quality the market showed a decided upward tendency. Sheep: Wethers sold at from £1 3s 9d to £1 17s Od; ewes, £1 2s to £1 14s 3d: hoggets, 16s 9d to £1 7s 3d; lambs. His 9d to £1 4s; shorn wethers, 17s to 19s 3d; do., ewes, 16s Od to 18s. Pigs were scarce. Porkers sold at from 19* 6d to £1 15s; weaners, 10s to 16s 6d; baconers, £1 16s to £2 17s. Hides: The market is firm for all well-flayed hides, and scored and cut are hard to sell. We quote—Extra stout ox, 7d to 7'/-d; stout do., 6'/ 2 d to 6%d; medium do., 5%d to 5%d; light do., 5d to s'/4d; cow.-', lust lines 4%d to SJ, good 4V.d to 4%d, scored 3%d to 4V4d; kips, 4d to 4'/ 2 d; calfskins, 5d to 6y 4 i; stags, 3d to 3'/ 3 d; horse hides, 3s 6d to 9s 9d.
Sheepskins: Market firm. Best butchers' skins, Lirge to 9s, good lines 6s to Us 9d, medium 5s to 5s Gd, small 4s to 4s 6d; lambskins, Is (id.
ADDIXGTOX STOCK MARKET. Christehurch, October 0. There was a moderate entry of stock at the Addington market to-day. The yarding of store sheep was small, and comprised mostly hoggets and cull wethers. Competition was limited, and prices were dull, a number of lines being passed in. Fat lanjjs sold freely, prices ranging from I9s to 265. The yarding of fat sheep was moderate. Prime wetlrers 25s to 3ls 3d, lighter I9s to 245, prime ewes 2la to 24s <H, others ISs to 20s, prime merino wethers 2ls to 245.
Competition for fat cattle was well sustained, and prices for really prime beef were firmer. Steers £7 5s to £l3, heifers £7 to £lO, cows £4 17s Od to £9 15s. Veal calves sold at 7s 6d to 60s. About 200 head of store cattle were entered, mostly backward conditioned young sorts. There was not much demand. Sales were made as follows: Yearlings 20s to 30s, two-year-olds 50s, three-year steers to £4 2s 6d, three-year heifers £3, dry cows 20s to £3. The dairy cows—a poor lot—fetched from £3 to £6.
There was a moderate entry of all classes of pigs and a keen demand, prices being very firm all round. Heavy baconers brought £3 to £5 0s 6d, lighter 48s to 55s (equal to s'/ 2 d to Od per lb), large porkers 40s to 475, smaller 34s to 38s (averaging Od), large stores 25s to 355, medium 22s to 245, weauers 15s to 21s.
DUXEDIX STOCK MARKET. Dunedin, October 9. At the Burnside market to-day 200 fat cattle were yarded, principally medium and good quality steers and heifers, with a few pens of extra prime cattle. Best bullocks made up to £l3 17s 6d, good £lO to £l2 10s, light-weight steers £7 15s to £9 10s, best heifers to £lO ss, good £8 10s to £9 15s, others £4 ISs to £7.
Fat sheep—l 946 penned, principally medium and good quality, with only "a few pens of really prime. Prime wethers to 28s 9d, medium to good 23s to 25s Od, light weights 18s to 225. Fat Lambs—4s penned. This was the largest number offered this season, and prices were easier in consequence. Extra prime brought up to 255, prime :20s to 2as, small and lighter 15s to 17s. Pig*—About 120 yarded. The market was slightly easier. Suckers 14s to 16s, stores 25s to 30s, porkers 38s to 3fls, light baconers 45s to 50s, heavy baconers 60s to 70s.
