Copy of letter from Wanganui Chronicle, 22ud December, 1904:—'Sir,—As it may prove useful to other dairy farmers I send you the following:—On the 10th inst. one of my best cows calved, her third calf. On the morning of the 13th. she gave me a three-gallou bucket of milk, and looked tip-top. At 3 o'clock" that evening, 'coining home fre ( 'm the paddock I noticed ser body tckel up jand her hindquarters still'. 1 tried to milk her, but the milk was gone. As the above were indications of milk lever, 1 gave her a dose of Sykes's Urench, and remembering that oxygen pumped into the udder was a remedy, 1 got a bicycle I pump and with the part that fits in the rubber tyre of the bike added, 1 pump- i eJ the four quarters of the udder lull of air. We had to support her in tile bail while doing this. When we left her out she staggered a few yards and fell down. About twenty lninutcs™terwards, however, to my surprise she was on her feet again, and much belter. By 9 o'clock that night she was resting " nfortably. Next morning at 4.:i1l I o'clock she was up and feeding. That. 'evening I got 1511)9 of milk from her. !and she is now hack to her usual flow |of Jnilk, and as well as she ever was. :I have now had eighteen years' diiry ning. and have seen cows die, and icows recover in time, but in this insiam'P the quick recovery was simply marvellous.—T am, etc., J.
