"RAGGING" ON THE RAILWAYS.
Per Presß Association. Auckland, Thursday. The Trades and Labour Council carried a resolution drawing the attention of the Minister of Railways to the fact that "ragging" is prevalent in Auckland, and asking him to take action in the matter. Mr. Peek" stated that he knew of instances in which young men entering the engine-sheds had been so badly treated that they were obliged to leave the service. In one case a young man was stripped and smeared with oil. Mr. Rosser said he knew of a ease in the tarpenters' trade in wfiich a Doy was stripped and covered with glue.
