He is a very massive horse, with clean, flat bones, strong and well-formed joints, beautiful silky hair, and feet of good quality, lie has a beautiful head, neck, and crest, well-sprung ribs, and strong, short-coupled bade. Altogether, he is a most compactly built, wcll-put-together specimen of a Clydesdale horse. WHAT'S WANTED as a yearlin L gained first prize at the Egmont A. and P. Society's Show, and first prize as a two-year-old at the Taranaki Metropolitan Show. His sire, Armadale, was got by that celebrated breeding and show-ring sire Glcngyle, out of the fine breeding mare Nancy, who was shown until 13 years of age, and was never beaten in her class. She won nine first and four champion prizss. Duchess of Alexander's gr. dam, Jenny, was one of the best draught mares ever bred or imported to the colony, being dam of the New Zealand and Australian champion mare, Flower of Balmoral. His dam, Duchess of Alexandra, was a most successful prize-winner, having gained the following prizes, viz.:— First and champion at Tapanui ('South Island) as a two-year-old. First prize at Egmont A. and P. Society's Show. First and champion at Wanganui. First and champion at Taranaki. First prize as brood mare and champion prize as best draught mare or filly at Taranaki Metropolitan Show. New Plymouth, 1000. From the foregoing it will be seen that WHAT'S WANTED'S breeding cannot be surpassed, and he is certain to prove himself a getter of the very best type of Clydesdales. Terms: £3 10s. COUNT BELDEN is a handsome bright bay with black points, beautiful conformation, and stands 17 hands high, with a most docile temper, while his breeding is undeniable, being closely related to the great American mare Maud S. (2.B'i). A reference to his breeding will show him to be a very high-class stallion, and he is related to most of the best trotters in America. Judge Behlen (imp.) was sired by Elmo (1891), time 2.17; first dam, Prentus, by Niagara, time 2.15, sire of Fairmount, time 2.22, and Fanny Maker, 2.15; g dam of the great American mare Maiul S., time (high-wheeled sulky) 2.8%; Elmo, sire Como, time 2.26'/ 2 ; Alfred, sire Como, time 2.21; Elma, sire Como, time 2.24; T. C. Lee, sire Como, time 2.15. Mohawk (CO4), the sire of Elmo, time 2.12; was also the sire of Clark's Mohawk, time 2.25; and in turn the sire of Yellow Dock, time 2.11, and many others with 2.30 records. Judge Belden, sire of Count Belden, was sold with a public trial of 2.17, and was the most lwndsoinc stallion that ever left America,. At the Royal Agricultural Show, Sydney, N.S.W., he gained First and Champion Prizes three years in sue cession. Judge- Belden (imp.) is the sire of Bellman, winner of the Auckland 'Trot, Canterbury Victoria Handicap, and Progressive Handicap in 1808, and the Auckland Electric rot in 1807. Duke C., out of the same dam as Count Belden (imp.), won Epsom Trot of two miles, time 5.7'/ 2 ; June Handicap and Glasgow Trot, at Auckland.
