A WALKING RACE.

Per Press Association. Harton, Last Night. A walking race from Marton to Bnlis and back, a distance of 18 miles, took place to day. There were nine competitors, and a great finish resulted between C. Wilson (Utiku) and W. Brock (Marton), the former winning by inches. ITousen (Bulls) was third, and Wakeman (Taihnpe) fourth, being twenty minutes behind. The time occupied was three hours sixteen minutes, or 1.11 average of 10 minutes 53 seconds a mile. The competitors had-to face a, strong gale on the homeward journey.
