Per Press Association. Gisborne, Last Night. Members of the local oil company,, interviewed the Hon. James Carroll recently and urged on him to use his influence to get Dr. Bell, the Government geologist, to visit the company's ground and define anticliaes. The chairman and secretary of the company leave on Thursday for Wellington to further urge the matter on the Government. At the Police Court to-day two Maoris were each lined £1 and costs £1 2s for urging dogs to light in a public place. For September £3585 Os Id in Customs duties was collected, as against £3374 Ms 3d for the previous month. For the quarter £11,312 15s Gd was collected, as against £0702 15s for the corresponding quarter of last year.
