Captain Edwin wired on Saturday:— Westerly heavy gale; glass fall soon: tides high; sea heavy; rain probably heavy; rivers high after sixteen hours. The Union Steamship Company has received advice that its new turbine cteamer Maori, which has been specially built for the ferry service between Lyt tetton and Wellington, ran her trial trips on Tuesday and attained a speed oi 20% knots, with only five-sixths of her boiler power in use. She was expected to leave Glasgow on Saturday via Suei, for Xew Zealand.
