A BYE-ELECTION. Received Sept. 29, 4.35 pjm. London, September 28. The bye-election for Kirkdale division of Liverpool, vacant through the death of Mr. D. Maclver, resulted in the return of Charles McArthur (Unionist), who polled 4000 against John Hill (Lab ir representative), 333 d. The Liberal executive was unable to officially support Hill or any of his socialist vii:\v-, but passed a resolution expressing the hope that the Liberal electors would support him. At the general election in 1906 Mr. D. (C.) polled 3749 against J. Conley (Labour), 3157.
