THE MONTE CARLO HORROR.
A FRESH CONFESSION*. , Monte Carlo, September 27. Goold in a fresh confession declares he and his wife living without resource* determined to rob someone, and did .lot intend to kill Madame Levin, but merely to stun her. He tried to stun her with a kitchen pestle, but her unexpected resistance led him to stab her. On the wife being confronted with the confession she declared she had nothing to reply to his confession, and th»u fainted.
A GHASTLY RECITAL. GOOLD DESCRIBES THE MURDER. Received 28th, 4.22 p.m. Monte Carlo, September 28. Goold confessed that he waited in the kitchen with a pestle, while his wife and Madame Levin were having liquor. On his wife calling, he entered behind Hrs Levin, and struck her on the head, knocking off her wig with the first blow. At the second she rose and cried "murder!" "thief!" At the third blow, the woman rushed towards a window, buf Goolds wife put her hand over Mrs Levin's mouth to stifle ner cries. He then stabbed her (Levin) from it? hind with the big blade of a knife. She reeled against a wall and received a second stab in the al*jomen. He did not use a small blade, .ml his wife must have struck a second blow. Asked if she had anything to say regarding her huahand's confession." Mrs Goold replied "Nothing. 1 ' She fainted When told to sign the deposition.
