In America the religious spirit is constantly springing up in the most unexpected places. One would hardly cxpe.-t to read in a Stock Exchange journil a wise and thoughtful religious message. Yet in a Wall street paper we find an editorial nn the needs of lite country which is full of the Christian spirit." In effect it says: "What America needs is not more wealth, more territory, a stronger army or nary, more railroads, or any increase of material prosperity, but a revival of oldtime piety in the hearts of its people. It needs the kind of piety that could ■l.e time for family worship, and stop half an hour earlier at night, even in the busiest season, to get ready for the mid-week prayer-meeting; the . piety that could put the same honest saeriliee and effort into building its homes: that sincerity held attendance at church and its services a duty and a privilege, and its teachings—the teachings of God's Word—a rule of life."
