EDUCATION BOARD.
The Education Board continued its sitting on Wednesday, all the members being present. STAFFING. Appointments .were confirmed on the recommendation of the committee: Elthani road, -Mrs. Birkett; lluirangi, Miss Kiley. Resignations were accepted: Slakahu, .Miss Williams: Okato, Sir J. W. Boyce. 'The Selection Committee reported that applications for positions advertised had been received as follows: DKato, headteacher, 5; second assistant, Central, 2; sole teacher, Te Kill, 3; solo teacher, Marco, li; sole teacher, Slakahu, ■I; sole teacher, Douglas, 3. They recommended that the following names be submitted to the various committees: Okato, W. U. Slenzies, BA. 83, North Canterbury; 1). P. Evans, E2, Inglewood; Win. Davidson, D 3, Hawke's Bay; A. Bell, 1)3. Auckland. Central: Wm. Davidson. D 3. Hawke's Bav; R. Charles, Df, Stratford: Te Kiri, Sliss F. 0. J, Rigbv. licensed, Eltham road; A. Buckler, C2, Wellington; Slareo, SI. 11. Bailey, Puniwhakau; Sliss J. A. E. Bartlet t, Whangamomona; G. Coalo, C«itral; Slakahu, Sirs S. Cameron, E3, Wanganui; Douglas, Miss L. Finncrty, licensed, Norfolk road. UNCERTIFICATED TEACHERS. On the motion of Messrs Kennedy and Adlam, it was decided that the. secretary should prepare a list of all uncertificated at present iu sole charge and the number of years they have been teacaing; the report to be laid on the table at next meeting.
NEW OFFICES. The architect was instructed to call tenders for the erection of olliees for the Board, to be erected on St. Michael's Square, tenders to be laid before the Board at next meeting. A BUSD ROAD REQUEST,
Mr Geo. Scabright, chairman of the school committee, forwarded an application for the erection of a. teacher's residence at Bird lioad.—Messrs Morison and Monkhouse will report. CADETS' SHOOTING TROPHIES. The Secretary for Education wrote that, having regard to the number and values now available for competition in ride shooting by the public school cadets and the risk involved in keeping them in the schools by which they are periodically won, the Department* had come to the conclusion that they should be kept in the Board's offices, and trophies would be offered subject to this condition. They would, of course, lie presented with due formality and there would be no objection to their being given out for exhibition at school festivals, etc.—'The Board decided to adopt this course should any of the trophies at any time come into its possession:: INGLEWOOD. Tlie Inglowood committee was authorised to apply to the Taranaki Countv Council and to the Jnglewood Borough Council for a grant in aid of n buildin" for manual classes at Inglewood. °
