COMMONWEALTH TARIFF.
CONDEMNED BY BRITISH COMMERCIAL MEN. London, September £i. The Central Board of the United Kingdom Commercial Traveller.,' Association, at the annual meeting held :it Preston, adopted a resolution expressing dissatisfaction with the Commonwealth, tariff and predicting disastrous effects to many of tne Motherland's in-ana-triea. The resolution also affirmed that the preference allowed would have no practical effect in the development of British industries. Senator Pullsforii. of the Commonwealth Parliament, writing to the Times, states that if preference in Australia is effective in decreasing foreign shipping then it will inevitably be effective in increasing the imports from the United Kingdom. It will act, he says, as a bounty.
