NAVY LEAGUE
Per Press Association. , Wellington, Last Night. The annual meeting, of the Wellington branch of the Navy League was held this afternoon, and was well attended. Patriotic speeches were delivered by His Excellency the (Governor, the Et Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, and the Hon. T. W. Hislop, Mayor of Wellington. A letter was received from Mrs. Seddon resigning the presidency of the ladies' section. Among the officers elected were: Lord l'lunket, Patron for New Zealand; Lady Plunket, Patroness of the ladies' seer tion; Sir Joseph Ward, President for New Zealand; Sir William Russell, VicePresident for New Zealand; Hon. T. W. Hislop, President of the Wellington branch. Speaking of what was being done "in connection with the trainingship Amnkaura, the Premier said he believed, if application were properly made, New Zealand would be able to get from the Imperial authorities one of the larger warships now being disposed of as practically obsolete. If so, they would be able to Accommodate five or six hundred boys.
