CRAIGARUSKEY is a black horse, standing 10.2 in height, with plenty of bone and Bplendid temper. He is rising 8 years, and was bred by Mr. G. Geddes, of Christchurch. CRAIGARUSKEY is by Wildwood (imported) from the Blackwood Abdallah mare Mona, bred by Freidlander Bros., Ashburton. CRAIGARUSKEY is half-brother to Ribbomvood, the fastest pacer in Aus- i tralasia—record, 2.7 for 1 mile. He is a very stylish mover and possessed of a beautiful temper. His sire, Vanity Fair, represents the third generation of a brilliant line of sires, bred by Mi'. Burdett Coutts,' wherein the notorious high-stepping Norfolk blood of old Confidence lias been hardened and improved in size, bone, and quality by successive crosses of Triffit's Fireaway, the great Yorkshire sire. His dam, Vanity, is by Vigorous (1215 E.H.5.8.) out of Lonely (648 E.H.5.8.). Vigorous is also the grandsire of that celebrated hackney, Hedon Squire (14306), the property of Sir Walter Gilbey, Bart. This famous hackney, besides winning innumerable firsts, championships, gold medals, and challenge cups at the principal horse shows in Europe, scored such phenomenal success at the Paris International Horse Show in 1900, where, besides winning 3 gold medals, 7500 francs in* prizes, and being first and champion of his class, he was awarded the Grand Championship for the best horse at the Show, all classes and breeds included. VICTORY is a sure foal-getter, over 90 per cent, of last season's mares having proved in foal. Mares met at Eltham and grazed free for one month. All care taken, but no responsibility. Sire, Armadale; gi. sire, Glengyle; g. gr. sire, Prince of the Isles; dam, Duchess of Alexandra, l;y St. Alexandra; gr. dam, Queen of the Cranbournes; g. gr. dam, Jenny, by Wait-a-Wee. WHAT'S WANTED is a very superior well-bred colt, 6 ye'irs old, of the very best quality and true type of the Clydesdale breed, standing 16 hands 2 inches high, on short legs. He is a very massive horse, with clean, flat bones, strong and well-formed joints, beautiful silky hair, and feet of good quality. Ho has a beautiful head, neck, and crest, well-sprung ribs, and strong, short-coupled back. Altogether, he is a most compactly built, well-put-together specimen of a Clydesdale horse. WHAT'S WANTED as a yearling gained first prize at the Egmont A. and P. Society's Show, and first prize as a two-year-old at the Taranaki Metropolitan Show. His sire, Armadale, was got by that celebrated breeding and show-ring sire Glengyle, out of the fine breeding mare Nancy, who was shown until 13 years of ago, and was never beaten in her class. She won nine first and four champion prizes. Duchess of Alexander's gr. dam, Jenny, was one of the best draught mares ever bred or imported to the colony, being dam of the New Zealand and Australian champion mare, Flower of Balmoral. His dam, Duchess of Alexandra, was a most successful prize-winner, having gained the following prizes, viz.:— First and champion at Tapanui ('South Island) as a two-year-old. i First prize at Egmont A. and P. Society's Show. First and champion at Wanganui. ' First and champion at Taranaki. First prize as brood mare and champion prize as best draught mare or filly at Taranaki Metropolitan Show, New Plymouth, 1900. From the foregoing it will be seen that WHAT'S WANTED'S breeding cannot be surpassed, and he is certain to prove himself a getter of the very best type of Clydesdaleß. Terms: £3 10s.
