Air Coates is acting as relieving teacher at the Central School. The wife of Mi S. Adamson, Hawera, died at Hawera on Monday. Tlie deatli is announced of Mra Frances Lysaght, of Mokoia, who was in her 76th i year. Captain Seddon has been appointed staff-officer to Major Tuson, AdjutantCeneral of the Forces. Mr K. Buckley, lately with the Union Bank and Messrs S. W. Shaw and Co., is taking up a position with Messrs Wilson and Nolan. At the Fire Brigade meeting last night Fireman Way was presented with a decoration marking the completion of liftecn years' service. A London correspondent states that Mr. 11. M. Southam, of New Plymouth, who arrived iu London lust April ou a visit (if business and pleasure combined, teaws nu August 23rd by the. Orient route i>n his return to New Zealand. .Mr. Scnitham has put in a good deal of his time in the Midlands as well as in Lninluu. and lias visited a number of tlie seaside resorts on the South Coast during his stay in this country. j
