THE POSITION IN ENGLAND. [ THREATS MAY BE TAKEN TOO SERIOUSLY. Received Sept. 17, 9.18 p.m. London, September 17. Mr. Bell intends to invite the railway companies to consult leading union oiiieials relative to what is intended by recognition of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants. All the principal railway companies declare their decision not to officially recognise the amalgamated society is unaltered by Mr Bell's threat of a strike. While the city regards the labor outlook as sufficiently grave, it thinks Mr. Bell's inliuence may be taken too seriously.
