Per Press Association. OFFENCES BY WOMEN. Christehurch, Saturday. Mr. Bishop, S.M., remarked in court to-day on the prevalence of offences by young married women. Lately one admitted to forgery, and to-day another, charged with the theft of goods from a shop, said her mother had taught her to drink, and the offence was committed while drunk*. Mr. Bishop commented on the alarming increase of thefts by married women, who came to court and confessed, pleading an excuse that could not be entertained. He convicted accused, and discharged her on paying for tho goods and the costs of court. BREACH OF PROMISE. Duncdin, Saturday. An official of the Postal Department has been served with a writ for £5Ol in a breach of promise action, which is to be defended. INFRINGING PRESS' ASSOCIATION COPYRIGHT. Auckland, Saturday. On an application on behalf of the United Press Association, Judge Denniston granted an injunction to restrain Charles 0. Beckett, of Waihi. from! printing and publishing telegrams protected under the Electric Lines Act, 1881. Defendant did not appear, and costs of ten guineas were allowed against him.
