Mr ><owto!i King advertises several first-class horses for sale at the Haymarket Vanls to-morrow. A special meeting of the members' of the New Plymouth Bowling Club takes place in the pavilion rooms this evening. Investors m town property are reminded of the sale by Mr Newton King on Saturday next of a corner section in Eliot street, with shop and dwelling thereon. The attention of our readers is drawn to an important sale of high-class dairy cows at liahotu by Mr Newton King on the 18th iust., on account of -Mr W. R. Wright, who is" stocking up with sheep. For 15 years Mr Wright has been working up (by breeding and selection) what is termed the "Bucket breed," and his efforts have been crowned with success, for 80 per cent, of his li' Til can claim admission to that class which the Americans describo as the "best cow on earth," tlie cows giving four to six gallons on a 3.G test, and last season, from the beginning of October to the middle of February, these cows averaged 10% ounces cf butter daily, whilst those cows th'it have just calved are yielding 15 ounc39 now, It may be pointed out to recent purchasers ot expensive bulls that mating them with some of these milking ' models might result in a, still more profitable cow, as some of the heifer calves dropped this season represent the last word in milk development, Mr Wright has been very careful in culling, „11 cows of the beefy type having Jong since been relegated to their proper place, viz., fcno butcher's shop, the only class of cow kept by him being built on milking lines alone. If required cows will be milked on the farm for two weeks after the sale.

Owing to the inclemency of the weather yesterday the performance of •Britannia" to have been given at Waitara was postponed until Friday week, 20th September.
