AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Seven heats in the Australasian' boxing championships were decided at the Opera House to-night. There was a large audience, His Excellency the (lovarnor being among the spectators. The judges were Messrs. K W. 1). lirevilie and 11. M. Rosenberg, and Dr. Napier "McLean was referee. On the whole, the boxing was not specially interesting. Three of the heats ended wilhin one minute, less than one round being boxed. All these heats were won on fouls, the audience thus losing its :-,.0r1. In the lieavv-weiL'ht contest virionwent to ('. Hill. Ust, of N,-w Sonl'h Wales, who met .1. Lloyd, li-l. of Christchnrch, after a minute's brisk I boxiiii.', the referee being of opinion that Lloyd held.
The bantams who tried conclusions wore K. Cantwoll, of Queensland Sst 1 Vill') and .1. Parker, of Canterbury (same weight). After a very short setto. the decision went in favor of Parker, through Cantwell holding. The feat her- weights wore F. Fitzjohn, Xew South Wales' (Sat 3'/,lb) and W. Klliott. Timaru (Sst 10>/.11»). Kl'ioU iviii declared the winner. Another bantam contest was between 10. Usher. Xew South Wales (Sst O'/ilb) and V. li. Traoey, Wellington "(Sst o :: ',lb!. The decision was given in favour of Lusher. Tin's is tin- first time Tracev lias boon beaten in Xew /■•aland. though Dickenson defeated him in Sydney. Another feat her-weigh I light was between V. Itoughscdge. Queensland (Ssl HM.11.) and A. Treesize. Ashburton (Sst l:i!M, the latter winning In the middle-weight'contest. ('. Hill of Xow South Wales, could not drawlie weigh! to moot h. Fletcher, of Wellington, so A. J. Scanlon, Queensland (lost 12"/,!!)) and -I. JfcDormolt, Invcreargill (list :i'/db) were the only starters" in this class. Scanlon was given the verdict, as his opponent held.
