T) Napier, Last Night, lie representative football match Auckland v Hawkes Bay was played on the Recreation Ground to-day before he largest attendance ever seen at a lootball match on the local ground. The Same was cluelly confined to the forwards ol both sides, and in this respect , -nvkes Bay was .lightly superior. The Hawkes Bay backs, hmv-vcr, played a more dashing game than the visitors, t though the passing on both sides was erratic. Hawkes Bay won by 10 points (two converted goals) to nil.

Mi: Sheahan expressed sunrise that the Auckland forwards should be charged with playing a rough game. He had attended every I game, in Alexandra Park this season and saw practically nothing to take exception to. They played a hard and strenuous game but their play hud been tree from unfair tactics. Dr. Ilardie Kiel, medical officer, who attended the matches, is prepared to testify to the small number of injuries received by footballers this year. Those wore the result of accideiil pure and simple, and not of rough play.
