NEW SOUTH WALES ELECTIONS
POLLING PASSES OFF QUIETLY. Received lOtli, 9.40 p.m. Sydney, September 10. The weather conditions were favorable for the election, the day being tics and bright. In the Jnctropolitan areas the afternoon was declared a public holiday. The polling passed off quietly. There was little sign of excite-
ment. All parties worked hard, and liberufly employed vehicles of all descriptions. Outside the direct party issues at stake, the antagonism of a large section ot voters to the new Federal tariff acted indirectly, anil the local option poll acted directly in stirring up interest in the struggle. Both these questions appealed especially- to the women, who availed themselves more. largely than ever previously of tlic ballot box. 'the liquor and no-license interests vied with each other in activity in ec curing supporters.
