In regard to New Zeaiaud white pine for the manufacture ot butter boxes, the meeting favored a reciprocity agreement with New Zealand, it was considered advisable to admit pine free into the Commonwealth rather than to have a rebate given on butter boxes. THE GOVERNMENT'S PROPOSAL. Received 10th, 1.1 a.m. . Melbourne, September 9. Mr Trapp, a timber merchant, urged! the Minister for Customs to adjtnit New Zealand pine free, as there was no bcr in Australia so suitable for butter boxes. • ' Mr Chapman said the Government intended to allow a drawback on New Zealand butter box timber. Mr Trapp contended this would cause trouble, as the right man would not get the drawback. 6
