Lingard, an appeal against the decision of the Magistrate on a claim for rates. The Council had failed to prove that the W.W demand had been posted. His Honour ordered that the Magistrate's decision should be reversed, and that a nonsuit should be entered.

The Ciiicf Justice also gave judgment in the case Commercial Union Assurance Company v. G. A. Gamnian and to., sawmillers, a claim to recover premiums which had been paid by promissory notes, to George White, the company s manager for Hawkes Bay. At his request the bills had been drawn in favour of White, who did not account tor the money when the notes were met Judgment was given for defendants, with costs. '

William Lind Mitchell, solicitor, late of Levin and now in South Africa, has been suspended for six months on the motion of the Law Society.
