MARTON RACES. Per Presß Association. Marton, Last Night. Wet weather prevailed for the second day's racing, and the course was very heavy. The totalisator for the two days turned over £13,570, against £12,420 for last year. There was a number of spills in the Steeplechase, and F.Whifohouse, rider of Bullworth, received internal injuries and was removed to a private hospital. Results:— Telegraph. —Waihuku 1, St. Claimer 2, Silver Shell 3. Also ran—Frisco, Gaivain, Won comfortably by a length. Time, Imin 33s?e. Dividend, £2 4s. Hunters' Hurdles.—Poplar 1, Earmark 2, Oryx 3. Also ran—Waitoa, Netherby, Waikura, Waterworks, Aesop, Lifebuoy. Won by a length. Time, 3minl 47sec. Dividends, £3 lis and 15s.
Electric.—Kaercroa 1, Nukutihi 2. Narrow Escape 3. Also ran— Goldwai! Pearlio, Alpigne. Won easily by two lengths. Time, Imin lOscc. Dividends, £3 4s anil lis.
Hack Steeplechase—Redshank 1, Morpeth 2, Columbine 3. Also ran—Peruvian, Pilot, Bullworth, Korcru, Whipcord, Mangolia. Only the placed horses finished; the others fell. Won easily. Time, oniin 33sec. Dividends, .€l4 £s and £1 1-ls.
Marton Handicap.—St. Joe 1, Sapa 2, Lyrist 3. Also ran—St. Albert, Mahoe, Iliro. A ;;ood finish. Won by half a length. Time, 2min 13sec. Dividends, £2 lis anil £1 15s.
Welter Handicap. Belario 1, White [Lie 2, Commander 3. Also ran—Catseye, Sylvan Park, Glenafrie, Killaniey. Won easily by three lengths. Time, Imin 42 3-ssce. Dividends, £1 ils and £1 ss.
Second Hurdles.—Dulcinea 1, Compass 2, Lerida 3. Also ran—Waitoa, Ilurimoana, Rali'ui. Won by a head. Time, 3min 17 2-sscc. Dividends, £2 2s and £2 17s.'
Final Scurry.—Key 1, Pearlie 2, Green Leaf 3. Also rail—Pixie, King's Post, Nordoff, I'orangi, Muskerada, Akurongo, Neke Atu. Won by a short head. A protest for boring was dismissed. Time, 55sec. Dividends, £2 and £1 lis.
N.Z. CUP SCRATCHING. Per Press Association. Christchurcti, last night. Marguerite was scratched for the New Zealand Cup at 12.30 p.m. to-day.
